Walking from Lukla
After an invigorating taxi ride through the pre-dawn streets of Kathmandu (think concrete barriers, tire fires, soldiers and roadblocks all at 80kph), I got on a Sita Air flight and in just under an hour I was eating chapati bread with sherpa tea (black tea, yak milk, fat, dash of salt) in the cold clear air of 2800 meters (that’s just under 10,000 feet for the metrically challenged). From here I start the walk to Namche Bazaar, and on up to Everest Base Camp, over to the pass at Cho La to Gokyo and back down. Eighteen days on the roof of the world, Himalaya, abode of the snows. See you in three weeks.

WOW! Sounds unnervingly exciting! Oh yeah, when you write the screenplay for this part of your life, you gotta remember the part where I had to use my mad black belt martial arts skillz to save us from a roving band of corrupt and abusive Nepali cops. Cuz, I was there, of course…

We are glad you “got out of Dodge,” and are able to continue your trek more or less on schedule, now with more tales and moments than originally anticipated.
Careful of the Yetti, though that prospect probably seems a tame thought after Kathmandu.
The tea sounds . . . . On second thought, I’ll bet it tasted mighty good given the circumstances.
Keep on trekking, my son, and catch you on the back side. wherever that might be.
